Line Lyhne

Drive, 2026

16mm round steel bar, heat-treated

—

In the foyer, above the stairs leading down to the concert hall, a line stretches along the wall. It follows the architecture, bends around corners and continues without interruption.

Drive inscribes itself into the space.

A steel rod runs horisontally through the transitional zone between what is waiting and what is about to start. It is meticulously attuned with the proportions of the wall, but simultaneously appears detached from function, like something that is at once part of the structure and interrupts it.

The line is minimal, yet insistent. It pulls a movement through the space, as a tension, a direction, a pulse. It bends, folds, and the direction changes without interruption, like a staff line, a string or a drawing, in the space. It oscillates between what it is and what it implies.

As a form of notation, the artwork gathers architecture and rhythm into a single gesture. Not as a representation of music, but as a proximity to it: Interval, pause, continuation. The line has no beginning and no ending. It unfolds throughout the building like an underlying movement that is already there — and now comes forward.
