Anna Walther, ‘Zee You’
Stones, gravel and sand from Tarup Davinde Nature Park, cement, paint, wood
2025
In the middle of a landscape that calls for practical clothing and shades of camouflage, a bed suddenly appears; heavy, far from functional, and neatly adorned with a draped bedspread, complete with zebra stripes. Out here, you are far more likely to encounter a horse than a zebra. But we can’t all be efficient creatures, ploughing the fields and leading armies across borders. Anna Walther has put in place a resting spot that doesn’t entirely fit into its surroundings—and has no interest in doing so either: the zebra bed offers a frivolous little break in the middle of all the browns and moss greens and the muted colors. For those passers-by who might balk at mountain bike trails and skate ramps, it reassures them that there is a place for them too. It says: I see you. I got you. Come lie down with me.
