I can feel it in my bones, 2026
wood (mahogany), steel, rotary motor
—
In the front house, by the entrance of the building, a pause emerges within the movement. A space one passes through, but does not stay in.
I can feel it in my bones places itself in this gap.
On a board, stretched out across an open void between floors, rests an intricate structure of wood and chair elements. It floats between constructions like a skeleton with no anchoring. The body is present, but not assembled. A chair and a skeleton slip into one another. A shape that awaits.
Only one movement breaks the stillness. A finger taps.
Slowly, repeatedly. Like an interrupted metronome. Not a measurement of time, but a sense of its presence. An inner rhythm that stretches time and makes it denser.
The movement is operated by a visible mechanism: a wire, a circuit, a rotation. Like a stage that keeps the structure in motion.
The artwork points to a condition within the building itself. The act of waiting spreads throughout the house. To the architecture which is oriented towards what is yet to come. To the musicians, seated and ready between performances. To the audience who has not yet arrived.
Between what is organic and what is constructed, a tension emerges. The body is reduced to structure, yet something keeps tapping.
