Resident artist Rose English at FAA
The Danish Art Foundation has invited artist Rose English to Funen Art Academy to do a 2 months residency from April throughout May. We are thrilled to be welcoming Rose English, who will take part in the Academy community by giving artist talks, leading workshops and participating in daily life at FAA.
A uniquely interdisciplinary artist, Rose English emerged from the conceptual art, dance and feminist scenes of 1970s to become one of the most influential performance artists working today. She has been writing, directing and performing her own work for over 40 years, combining elements of theatre, circus, opera and poetry to explore themes of gender politics, the identity of the performer and the metaphysics of presence. English has shown performances in ice rinks, swimming pools and agricultural settings and has collaborated with a diversity of co-performers including musicians, dancers, circus performers, magicians and horses.
During her stay Rose English will continue working on her upcoming solo exhibition which opens at Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen in the fall. The exhibition is curated by FAA’s rector Stine Hebert.
