School show 2013 / The Funen Painters
School show 2013 with works by first, second and fourth year students at the Funen Art Academy.
Opening May 24th with vernissage at 2 pm. Free entrance and everyone is welcome.
For this year’s school show the students have chosen the title ”The Funen Painters” as a frame of reference. More than a hundred years ago the art colony ”Fynbomalerne” – including the artists Alhed and Johannes Larsen, Anna and Fritz Syberg and Peter Hansen – created a strong and vibrant artist scene in the province. It is thus with reverence but also with the ambition to present experimental art practices of today that the students at Funen Art Academy exhibit under the title ”The Funen Painters”.
For the first time in years the annual school show is moving back into the halls of the Academy in the historic surroundings at the top floor of the old Brandt’s Textile Mill. This is where the students have their studio spaces and everyday art practice. For the exhibition the student’s current works space Painter’s hall opens up and invites the public inside the educational settings of the young artists.
The exhibition is curated and organized by the students.
