For the fourth time in succession Funen Art Academy holds a graduation show at Kunsthallen Brandts. The graduation show is the culmination of the five-year education at Funen Art Academy, and this year ten artists take part in Funen Art Academy / Graduation 2012. This group exhibition presents the multifaceted field in which contemporary art operates, and the exhibition’s themes range over such diverse elements as urbanity, the personal sphere, nature as material, gender, identity, virtual space and psychedelic states. The exhibition is rich in artistic expression and manifests itself in many different media and materials. What unites the artists and the works one encounters at Kunsthallen Brandts is that they have all been nurtured by a common platform at Funen Art Academy, and this period of learning has been a process, which has helped shape an individual practice characterised by personal expression. Some of the graduating students work alone, others participate in close collaborations, and several work in the intersection between visual art, music and film.
The presentation of the finished works in the graduation show is the result of a long artistic working process, where far more is involved in the groundwork of the final project than actually manifests itself in the exhibition space. The catalogue for this exhibition is free, and it is intended as supplementary material that can act as an expanded exhibition format, as the space of the book allows the opportunity to show other aspects of the artistic practice than those which can be experienced at Funen Art Academy / Graduation 2012.
