1st year students exhibit at Historiens Hus

1st year students exhibit at Historiens Hus

Opening: Thursday 19th of April 4pm – 7pm. Everyone is welcome!

First year students from Funen Art Academy have chosen to make a self-organized exhibition at Historiens Hus in Odense. The reasoning behind this expo has been to challenge how the students interact with a place filled with so much history.

Historiens Hus, the old St. Knud’s Monastery, is Denmark’s oldest Benedictine monastery. Throughout time it has been subject to many speculations. Things like the murder of King Knud, secret monk’s societies and being a drop-in centre for “Lonely Oldies’ Friends” (Ensomme Gamles Venner) have all taken place there. Today it functions as the city archives.

Come and experience the student’s works that in various ways are site specific. The society “Ensomme Gamles Venner” (todays Ældresagen) will reopen at the opening, where there among other things will be coffee and cake for everyone past 60 years of age.

The students exhibit in the staircase and the entrance hall, where you can see medias like video, installation, collage, and photography.

The participating artists are:
Kamilla Askholm Jørgensen, Louise Uth Pedersen, Sara Grønborg, Katrine Stensgaard Jensen, Rasmus Myrup Mortensen, Sofia Albidus, Maj Bjørnholdt Kjærsig, Emilie Hansen, Nilas Dumstrei, Anders Christian Eriksen, Levin Gjernals
