Graduation Show 2013 / Sector 13

Funen Art Academy’s Graduation Show 2013
31 May – 4 August 2013. Opening 30 May at 17:00 in Kunsthallen Brandts.

The 2013 graduating year at the Funen Art Academy consists of seven artists who are now presenting their graduation works at Kunsthallen Brandts before they venture out into the world to make their own mark. Their exhibition is called Sector 13.

With Sector 13 the visitors can look forward to an exhibition that is neither harmonious nor structured, but a multiplicity of idioms, signals and narratives. The word ‘sector’ is by the artists viewed as an area, a demarcated entity: as an urban structure with roads, places and squares. The sector is populated by art. And the sector is a space at Kunsthallen Brandts, which the artists are occupying with their own works and modes of expression.

Kristian B. Johansen has created a publication that deals with the area around the now-closed paper factory Dalum Papirfabrik. Niels Pugholm presents an audio and visual installation about life as an immigrant. Clara Starck shows a work about the space that exists between machine and product. Karen Marie Ørsted’s audio work was recorded in the Norwegian mountains and is about speaking the truth. Nenad Milcevic investigates the way the artist functions as a consumer. The work by Tom Kietz presents fragments of knowledge gained in connection with the liberation of a house that was to function as an alternative to the rest of society. Tuk Rask Bredsdorff shares his three-year process and experiences around building his own house.

Participating artists:
Tuk Bredsdorff, Kristian B Johansson, Tom Kietz, Nenad Milcevic, Niels Pugholm, Clara Starck and Karen Marie Ørsted.
