Funen Art Academy is looking for an art theoretician<\/strong><\/p>\n

 
\nFunen Art Academy is looking for an art theoretician for the planning and carrying out of art theoretical teaching. The position is available for a five-year period from September 15 2012 until June 1 2017. The position is awarded with 82.200 DKK annually, which corresponds to an average of 2,5 hours of weekly teaching including preparation and coordination meetings in the academic year at Funen Art Academy, which goes from October 1 – June 15. The salary is regulated on an annual basis in correspondance with the tariffs of Odense Municipality.<\/p>\n

Funen Art Academy emphasizes an experimental approach to art theoretical tuition. It is important for us that all of our teaching encourages the growth and development of the students\u2019 own artistic practices. We therefore ask that our art theoretician is able and interested in applying different pedagogical approaches to mediating historical as well as contemporary art theoretical discussions to the students in order to make them accessible and relevant for the artistic practices of the students. We offer a large amount of flexibility as far as\u00a0 to how teaching can be carried out and encourage the invitation and inclusion of guest artists and art theoreticians.<\/p>\n

We expect:<\/p>\n

– An art historian or art theoretician with an MA or equivalent degree in art history or art theory.<\/p>\n

– Teaching experience and preferably also additional art professional experience gained from curating or other art institutional experience<\/p>\n

– Pedagogical ambition and the ability to mediate complex art theoretical discussions on many different levels to students with a wide variety of social and educational backgrounds<\/p>\n

– The ability to teach in English. Danish language skills are not necessary, as all teaching at Funen Art Academy is carried out in English.<\/p>\n

– An in-depth knowledge of the international contemporary arts scene and a solid art professional network<\/p>\n

– The interest and desire to contribute to the continued development of Funen Art Academy in close collaboration with rector, students, and staff.<\/p>\n

– Planning and execution of art theoretical courses and the coordination of art theoretical seminars and projects with guest teachers<\/p>\n

– Participation in monthly coordination meetings<\/p>\n
